The hook

"So I'm going to return this..."

A reverse hook: it sounds like a complaint, so viewers stay to find out what's wrong, then it flips into why I'm keeping it and ends with a reason to buy now.

The approach

  • A pattern-interrupt opener. "I'm going to return this" is the last thing anyone expects from a product video, so it stops the scroll and builds curiosity before the payoff.
  • Product in hand from the first frame. Viewers see exactly what they're buying, at a real gaming setup, before the pitch starts.
  • A gamer's honest take. As a long-time streamer I can speak to what matters in a PC controller, so it reads as a recommendation, not an ad.
  • Built-in urgency. The price-drop angle gives viewers a reason to tap the product link now instead of saving it for later.
  • Evergreen sales. The video kept converting long after launch: 27 sales in August alone, two months after posting.
